Fuel costs end one-year cruise for Bahamas-flagged residential ship
The Bahamas-flagged Villa Vie Odyssey suspended operations in Cambodia, ending its one-year itinerary early as monthly fuel costs per cabin rose from about $1,800 to $6,000–$8,000 in parts of Asia. Residents face disembarkation while restructuring is pursued, with no financing finalized.
Why it matters:Fuel cost spikes are threatening the viability of residential cruise operators under the Bahamas flag, while rising domestic fuel prices add cost pressure for Bahamian businesses and transport. (Negative development)
