Port’s fourth ‘energy’ terminal to ease shipping cost pressure
Arawak Port Development Company says the near-$180M Island Power Producers LNG project, in which it holds a $5m stake, should be completed in 12-18 months. Power generation is scheduled to start in Q3 2027, with expansion due by Q1 2028, under a planned fourth Energy Terminal at Nassau Container Port.
Why it matters:The Energy Terminal adds LNG as a new cargo stream for the port, diversifying revenue and potentially easing pressure for future shipping tariff increases, while supporting shore power for cruise ships. (Positive development)
